Main Job Summary

Contribute to the technical development, maintenance, and improvement of the Mobile Device Laboratory’s Quality Management System ensuring that it satisfies relevant quality standards and the requirements of the Criminal Justice System.

Working with the Technical Quality Lead, the Accreditation Officer will utilise their forensic knowledge, technical knowledge, and experience to work with analysts and the wider Quality team, to identify improvement opportunities and provide reassurance of the effectiveness and implementation of the system.

Main Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, processes and documentation
  • Assist with the validation of forensic methods by undertaking testing and producing validation reports
  • Creation/population/maintenance of ground truth devices and data sets
  • Assist in the maintenance of the validation library and Quality Management System documentation
  • Investigative analyst-raised tool performance issues
  • Assist in the root cause analysis of identified issues

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a digital forensic laboratory
  • Understanding of mobile device storage structures, security features and anticipated tool performance
  • Experience of using XRY/XAMN, UFED, UFED Physical Analyzer, Griffeye, X-ways, RabbitHole
  • Knowledge of the following quality standards: ISO/IEC 17025, ILACG19 and the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice requirements
  • Experience of carrying out or assisting with the validation of forensic methods

Education:

Degree level qualification (2:2 or above) BSc in an IT related field; Computer Science or Digital Forensics degrees are desirable

Or

HND/HNC & 1 -> 3 years’  experience in digital forensics

Other Role Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years UK residency
  • Full driving licence
  • Satisfactorily pass pre-hire and annual security clearance procedures in accordance with the ACPO(Association of Chief Police Officers) National Vetting Scheme.
