Desktop Support Engineer


Assistance with day-to-day and project work, being the first point of contact for all support queries

Main Job Summary

The role will be responsible for assisting with BAU support and project work, including end user devices, mobile devices, printers, active directory and Microsoft 365. Day-to-day duties include 1st and 2nd line support and IT Desktop administration.

Main Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
  • Be the first point of contact for all support queries
  • Resolving tickets raised by end users associated with operating systems, networks, software, hardware, printers etc.
  • Performing regular compliance tasks and checks
  • Installation of new software and hardware
  • Creation, deployment, and maintenance of desktop images
  • User account creation and set up of end user IT equipment
  • Ensure regular backups of systems are taken successfully and verifying integrity of backup data
  • Maintaining the IT asset database
  • Management and administration of anti-spam and anti-virus systems
  • Assist in system upgrades and system maintenance
  • Liaise with third party suppliers, such as Internet Service Providers and vendors
  • Assist in building and maintaining good relationships between the IT department and other CCL departments
  • Procuring end user, network and server hardware, peripherals, software & support
  • Willingness to work out of hours/overtime when required
Required Skill Set & Experience:

3+ years of experience of the following systems:

  • Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11)
  • Microsoft Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
  • Microsoft 365 Administration
  • Microsoft Endpoint Manager/Intune Administration
  • Windows Deployment Services / Image Deployment Software
  • Desktop and laptop hardware troubleshooting
  • Wired\Wireless networking and VPN
  • Supporting software packages
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • Network printers
  • Data backup and restore processes
  • General IT Security concepts


Essential: A Levels, BTEC, HND level education in an IT related discipline or equivalent experience

Desirable: Industry qualifications e.g. MS-900 | MS-100/101 | ITIL

Other Role Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years UK residency
