CCL's Mister Skinnylegs integration with ALEAPP explores how combining CCL's open-source browser analysis tool with the ALEAPP project enables automatic extraction of advanced browser and website data from Chromium-based applications during Android forensic investigations.

At CCL we are passionate about supporting and giving back to the DF community driving open-source software projects. That’s why we’re very pleased to announce that we have recently completed work to integrate Mister Skinnylegs into the ALEAPP project.
ALEAPP is an open-source tool for extracting, parsing, and analysing artifacts from Android devices. Thanks to a huge collective effort from the project’s community, it supports a wide range of forensic artifacts, including many not currently available in commercial tools.
With the addition of Mister Skinnylegs, that range of artifacts now includes advanced browser and website data which will automatically be extracted from any Chromium-based browser, browser-like application or from browser components used by non-browser applications.
This development builds on our previous contributions such as adding support for FCM Queued Message artifacts.
LEAPP-ing forward and drilling down
Recovering more data inevitably makes efficient drill down and faster, sharper insight more desirable. CCL’s commercially available data exploration tool RabbitHole still sets the standard for fast, intelligent analysis: it has powerful tools for dealing with many of the data formats involved such as SQLite (including data recovery), LevelDB (including data recovery), as well as dedicated views for deep analysis of Chromium IndexedDB.
